First Day of Fall Break- Botanical Gardens
Well, now it's it's time to let the entertaining begin! Oh why, oh why is Fall Break here? Didn't we just start school two weeks ago (at least it sure feels this way)?!? I think the calendar clock is running sprints. Time, please slow down. Anyhow, Getting out of the house is a must in this family, so we headed out to the Botanical Gardens in Phoenix with some friends (the Vanderwalkers). We walked through the Butterfly Exhibit (pretty cool, but not quite as impressive as the one in Durham, NC). The kids had fun posing for pictures and getting up close with the butterflies. The workers taught the kids how to tell the difference between the male & female butterflies. Yeah for new knowledge! We found a huge Organ cactus (which we just had to get a picture of). We also walked the path of "The People of the Sonoran Desert". We saw how they ground up their food (the kids, especially the boys, loved showing of their muscles and getting to smash up the seeds), found their basket making materials, and even went in a couple of their "houses". We all had fun just being together and seeing the natural beauty of good ole' Arizona! Now all is quiet in the house. Ah, my favorite time of the day!!!
