Smiles & Costumes on Parade!

These past few days have been filled with silly morning times, school costume parades, parties, and a good ole hike. The kids have had a lot of fun dressing up this year, especially Kailyn who has been a different character with each event. She started out as Cinderella, next event she was Tinkerbell, then for school she was a Dora Snow Princess, and for Halloween Day she was a pink fairy. She is such a hoot! Hunter got sick after school today, so I took Altonator and Kay-Kay up our street and back. They had a ton of fun and are quite the trick-or-treaters! I finally got a chance to get in a little hike today (no kids) and it felt wonderful! It was a beautiful day and I could see forever.

Side note: I survived driving Steven's stick shift last night. I would much rather have ridden my bike to this parenting class that I am taking, but it was way too dark and late (especially once the class ended). I died about 4 times on the way to class and only twice on the way back. Not sure why they still make stick shift cars, except maybe to get my heart racing faster and give me more grey hairs. As if I don't have enough stressors in my life!!!
These videos are of Kailyn's preschool class and Alton costume parade at his preschool.

Silly Sunday!

Steven's younger brother Brian swung by to see us while in town for business. It was a treat to see him and the kids were especially excited to see their Uncle Brian. He and Steven got to go on a great mountain biking loop on Saturday morning and then they took Hunter out for his first "real" ride on a trail. Hunter did awesome and has now asked to go bike riding (on the trails) at least 10 times within the last 24hrs. I am so glad he has found something that really excites him (and is outdoors)!

Brian left bright and early this morning and so the kids didn't actually get to say goodbye, but hopefully he and Aunt Danielle will come back to visit soon. Hint, hint!! Once they woke up and realized he had left, it didn't take them long to turn his inflatable bed into an awesome trampoline. Looked fun to me too! Anyhow, I figured that I best get the "awesome trampoline" deflated soon or there would be nothing left but a big piece of heavy plastic with one giant, Texas sized hole. This didn't stop them from using their imagination (thankfully) and before I knew it I was called in by Kailyn to see their big hot dog (aka- Hunter rolled up in the bed). They can be such a hoot!

Then Kinley woke up with about the best bed head I think I have ever seen on her. We couldn't resist this cute picture moment. She later turned into a pirate girl and was all smiles, as usual! Grrrrrr!!!!!

I came home from a quick visit with a friend after church to find my hottie husband playing some fun tunes on his saxophone. I secretly wish I had even half of his musical talent! It is so good to have him back (being in school the past three years was a challenge for us all)!

The night ended with a short walk over to another friend's house. Kailyn was adamant about riding in the car (which of course we weren't thrilled about and tried multiple times to talk her out of, but I guess we choose our battles). You can see in the pictures who won! What an amazing father, husband and best friend I married. How did I get so lucky?!? Also, I couldn't resist taking a beautiful Arizona moon shot! It's good to be back home!!!!

Halloween- Peter Pan Adventure

This year for Halloween we decided to be characters from Peter Pan. The boys had a blast being pirates, with their swords in tow. Kailyn loved dressing up as Tinkerbell, Kinley was our little Indian princess, I was Wendy and of course, Steven was Peter Pan! Thank you to goodwill for the base of our costumes. We made Steven's hat & sword and put scraps together to make the costumes more complete.

We attended two parties in two nights and are now sufficiently candied out. The first night was for Hunter's school. they had several fun games, a hayride (with real horses), trunk-or-treat and a live ban. Kailyn wanted to be Cinderella and I was a UNC fan. I wore a blue wig in case the kids got lost. The second night, we all dressed in our Peter Pan best!
