Fifth Day of Fall Break - Pinetop, AZ

After the fun week we have had, we just had to go out on one last adventure. We wanted to get the kids to the mountains and see if we could find some leaves changing. We ended up heading east out to Pinetop, AZ in the White Mountains. The drive out took us about 3.5 hours, but it was totally worth it. There was an area called the Salt River Canyon that was soooo beautiful, but unfortunately we didn't get a picture because my hands were sweating on the wheel and there weren't a lot of places to pull out. Anyhow, we arrived around 3:30pm, checked into an awesome hotel (with an indoor pool, which made the kids' day), and headed out exploring. Just around the corner from our hotel we came upon this beautiful mountain lake (Woodland Reservoir). We had a fun time exploring the area, feeling the cool mountain air and seeing lots of duck. We also found a neat covered bridge (which reminded us of the beautiful covered bridges we saw in Virginia). Alton had a blast trying to hide behind trees and then jumping out to scare us. He has such a fun personality. Hunter had fun using our hiking poles again and Kailyn even used one of the poles to ride like a horse. Ah, the creativity of our little ones. They bring us lots of smiles! We then ate some awesome BBQ at Grumpy Jake's BBQ, which was some of the best I have ever had! And that says a lot coming from this Texas girl. Of course, we finished the night out with a fun swim in the indoor pool. What a fun day!
