Veteran's Day 2012

This morning the kids and I headed into downtown Mesa to help celebrate and show our gratitude for our Veterans. This day came at the perfect time because of the recent elections. For a moment, it gave me hope and more pride in our great country. The parade started off with multiple fly byes of various war planes. The kids were in awe as they looked up to the sky)! Then the motorcycle cops came down the street to start the parade and I reminded the kids that the cops were there to also keep an eye on them (hoping they could find a way to keep their hands off each other). Smiles! Then we saw many veterans, scouts, marching bands, motorcycles and cool army trucks & tanks. They even had a real life size tank roll down the street. Wow!!! It was super loud and rattlee, but so amazing to see up close like this. God Bless this great, beautiful land in which we live!!!

The evening was a little eventful and became very unplanned as we found a Christmas tree. Yeah!!! We left our other tree in NC (to save room and the heartache of streaming lights every year. My arms have been sacrificed for several years by being filled up with scratches!). We set it up after the kids went to sleep, so it will be fun to hear their reaction in the morning. Not sure yet when the decorating party will be, but no doubt there will be pictures to follow!

She Did It!

Well Yesterday (11/6/12) was a big day for baby Kinley (about 5 1/2 months old). She rolled over!!! We new she was close, but now she is a pro. Here's how it happened. Kailyn was helping me fold clothes in my room and Kinley was in the living room on her back just playing with and babbling to one of her toys. After about 10 minutes I heard her getting a little fussy, so we went to give her loves only to find out that she was on her tummy. I asked Kailyn is she had gone in and turned her over maybe when I wasn't looking and she said, "No". So, we had a cheering party for her and rolled her back onto her back. Guess what happened when I passed back by her, she had done it again. As of today, she is now rolling over constantly if placed on her back. She must have some serious abs. I think our other kiddos went from their stomach to back first. Anyhow, we are all super proud for her and love her so.

Also, she has had her first taste of food these past two days. So far she has tried applesauce and peas and LOVED them both. It is so fun to watch her grow, but I do wish time could slow down just a little!

I also found few random pictures of Kailyn and her friend Myla playing dress-up. Silly girls!!! Hope you enjoy!

Swings, Pictures & Fires, oh my!

This past week, Steven started his job at Red Mountain Endodontics/East Valley Endodontics. We are so proud of him and welcome this new chapter in his career with open arms. He is so talented and is the best Dad & Husband a girl could ever ask for!

On Friday, while the boys were at soccer practice, Kinley and I ventured over to the swings. She had more fun and giggled her little heart out! Pure joy!

On Saturday morning, we found ourselves doing some housecleaning (which feels like it is never done). Then once the younger ones headed off to bed for naps, Hunter and Steven headed out on a mountain bike ride. They had a super fun time and Hunter even had a pretty bad crash (which I hear he was super brave about). He is such an amazing bike rider for his age (almost 6yo)!

Later in the day, we headed down into Gilbert for a family picture with a professional photographer. We've only had this done one other time and it was much different back then with just two little ones (Kailyn was only 3months at the time). Steven was able to capture a few candid shots, which are super fun to look at. We will see how well the real pictures turn out in a couple of weeks. Keeping our fingers crossed! It was quite a challenge to keep the kids on the task at hand, but I guess this just goes to show the true colors of our lives!

After church today, the kids really hammed it up putting on a fire fighting show for us. They first got on their fire gear (I love that Kailyn is in her Cinderella dress with her fire helmet and that Alton is the fire dog. I mean, what is a fire rescue mission without their trusty ole fire dog?!?), then made their dress-up bin into a fire truck (they even put chairs in the bin for their seats. smart!) and then they used the vacuum for the fire hose. They really got into it, as you can tell from some of their facial expressions. There is seriously never a dull moment in our house (despite what the kids sometimes think)!
