Labor Day Camping -Sept 2014

This past weekend we got the opportunity to take the family camping out in the mountains of Eastern Arizona. We camped at KP campground about 2miles from Hannagan's meadow. In route, we ended up stopping to help a stranded college girl in the middle of nowhere, so we ended up stopping the night in Springerville. This lovely picture was taken the next morning. Kinley was determined to put this on. I think it fits her better than it fits me. Smiles!
We made it!!!
Hunter forgot his tennis shoes, so we made a makeshift set of shoes by putting his flippers inside of my tennis shoes. I don't think he will ever forget his tennis shoes again (I hope)!!!
Kinley couldn't wait to hike like everyone else. So fun!

Hiking across the meadow. Steven is so patient. What a great father he is to these kiddos. I hope they know how lucky they are.
They wanted to climb on this rock
Of course Mr. Elephant was with us. He's definitely become part of family. Smiles!
Hunter tries his first attempt at whittling.
And of course Kailyn wanted to try. Alton even tried, but all under very close supervision.
One of Alton's favorite things to do is hang his head out of the window. On the road leading to our campsite there was a puddle covering the entire road and they all loved when I would race through and try to soak them as their windows were open. It was fun to hear the excitement in their voices. Adventurers at heart!
We came upon this really nice hike near Hannagan's Meadow, but didn't go too far because we didn't take tons of water or change of diapers (which was our true turn around reason, if you know what I mean).
Texans at heart!
Kinley us suc a ham. I turned around and saw her standing in top of Steven's shoulders having the time of her life.
Silly Kailyn!  I think we are in trouble when she becomes a teenager. Little miss personality.
Steven found us the cool fire tower to climb. The views from the top were amazing!
Brothers for life.
Awesome Alton.
Steven and Kinley!
Hiker Kailyn.
Sunday church service next to Black River.
Sunday lunch near another mountain stream.
Nothing like wearing your lunch. Oh my!
Hunter found this awesome tree log.  Looked a lot like ...
Men's shorts!
On our last morning thee, I turned around and saw this cute face. Love her!
On the way home we drive south on road 191. It was scenic and curvy and took us right through Morenci, home of one if the largest copper mines. Just outside of the mine we saw these beautiful guys. Pretty cool!
