Summer 4th of July Adventure -Day 7

This would be a day full of driving. We were scheduled to head out of Flintstone park, SD and end up at Yellowstone. We made a few stops along the way to help break up the day a little bit.  Our first stop was Devils Tower. The kids enjoyed hearing the story behind how the tower got its deep markings (bear tried to get 7 Indian girls, but they prayed to be saved and the mountain raised them up in the air to the stars).
Devils Tower can be seen from so far away. Really cool!
Getting closer!
We made it!
Kailyn (6 yo), Kinley (2 yo), Hunter (7 yo), Alton (4 yo)
Alton loves to make this face.

Kinley tries to make her own trail. She must be tired in this picture because she is holding her hair.

After exploring Devils Tower, we headed over to Gillette, WY. This is were Steven lived from about age 4-7. He went to elementary school here and knocked out his two front teeth going down an ice covered slide at school. He had a lot of fun reliving his childhood memories.
This was the school were he had the teeth accident.

After sightseeing in Gillette, we made our way over to Yellowstone.  We experienced beautiful mountain passes, nearly flat plains, a flat tire on the camper and sleepy children.
Kinley out cold. Catching in the zzzzz's while she can.
This tire literally shredded off the outer skin in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Wyoming. I believe we were just outside of Thermopolis, WY. It was quite an ordeal (3 nice people stopped by to offer help) and definitely added to our adventure.

We pulled into our campsite around 11pm. Whew! We were exhausted!
