Summer 4th of July Adventure -Day 5

This morning we were able to really get cleaned up, taking nice warm baths and showers. Ahhhh!  We headed over to church and were only one of about 10 families. Some of the men were working their coal mining shift and would be coming at the pm sacrament meeting. Pretty cool that they offer this for the workers.  There were about 4-5 families that remembered Steven and his family, which was pretty cool (even after some 24 years later).  On our way out of town we drove by a big coal truck and by the mine (Jacob's Ranch Mine) where Steven's dad worked as a safety engineer when they lived in Wright.
Kinley wanted a turn in the wheel.
Alter boy in the wheel.
This picture really shows how big the truck really was. Apparently, according to Steven's dad, this was a small truck compared to what they use now. So crazy!

We then made our way toward Mt. Rushmore area. We stopped off at Jewel cave, but weren't actually able to go inside because there were no tour times left. It was still fun to read about it and see pictures in the visitor's center.
Entrance sign to Jewel Cave.

We arrived at Flintstone campground in the afternoon and had the chance to set things up and have some family time exploring the campground.  We played mini golf with the kids, walked around Flintstone park, ate dinner and washed clothes (it was definitely time for that!).
Alton playing one of his favorite sports.
Go Kinley! She enjoyed just walking up and putting her ball in the hole. Makes sense!
Kinley trying to drive the stone car.
Kinley's first experience with a see-saw!
Hunter wishing this thing actually moved.
Alton in the police car.
Mt. Rockmore. Clever!
Bam-bam Kinley!
The Dentist Office!
Outside the dentist office!
Riding the train.
Oh my!
Meeting Barney.
Ridin' in the real car. This car is the original and has been going for 45 years. Fun!
Alton loved this swing, as you an tell!
Hunter and Kailyn the conductors.
I think Alton enjoyed the spaghetti.
Oh my!

Also this night, we experienced one if the worst rain/hail storms I have ever experienced while "camping". The camper was rocking, lightning was constant, rain was pelting down and hail was loud. So crazy! Hunter ended up in our bed while the other little chicks stayed quite as mouses. Amazing! I think I was quietly praying for the entire 40 minutes or so (which seems like hours).

After the thunderstorm, this is what we found when we woke up. Kailyn's arm is squashing Kinley's nose. So funny!
