Spring Hikes- April

Steven and I had all of our cases cancel on a Wednesday a week or so ago, so we went on on hiking date (w/Kinley).  We decided to tackle the small mountain right next to our neighborhood called Spook Hill. We ended up blazing our own trail, but the views from the top were amazing. Helped us to see how beautiful our neighborhood and surrounding areas really are.
Getting ready to leave from our house. No car needed for this one, perfect!
Making our way up the hill.
Awesome views from the top.
View from the top looking down on our house.
Little miss independent looking at Red Mountain!
Kinley has got such a fun-loving yet independent personality.
Land marker at the top of Spook Hill.
Love this picture of Steven. So free!
We found a different trail down. Love the cactus with Red Mtn in the background (and especially the two great people on the trail with me)!
Came upon this old bell tower. Not sure if it still works, but is definitely original with the neighborhood.

Daddy-daughter time. Kinley LOVES her Daddy!!!
Giving him big hugs for carrying her.

I was asked to be the assistant girls camp leader in our new ward. By some small awesome chance, I also got lucky enough to be one of the three hike leaders for the Stake.  So, yesterday, Kinley, my friend (new camp director Jen Crowther)) and I headed up to Camp La Mia to scope out the hike I was assigned to lead the girls on.  The trail is called the Fiendship Trail and it is only 3.5 miles, though it is a totally different story when you have a little 3 (almost 4yo) in tow. My shoulders were toast after the hike, but it was totally worth it. The trail was heavily overgrown with thorns and fallen trees making it a lot mores adventurous, but hopefully by the time we go back up for girls camp, it will be a little more cleaned up. There was a, soon to be, Eagle Scout up there getting ready to clean up the trail. Yay!!!
The views were amazing!
This was at the top of a little vista. A perfect place for a spiritual thought with the girls.
Jennifer spotted this large horny toad lizard (not sure if it's formal name).
Picture doesn't do the views total justice. We also ran into several deer along the trail. I could live up here!
